- Anabolic Steroids Info
Anadrol (Oxymetholone) is an anaboic steroid that has been used in the treatment of anaemias such as aplastic anaemia. It is also used in veterinary medicine and given to small, older animals to improve their appetitie and increase strength and vitality. Anadrol is commonly administered orally. It is also referred to as Anadrol 50.
The ratio of anabolic to androgenic functions is known as The Therapeutic Index. The therapeutic index was developed in an attempt to classify the anabolic and androgenic effects of anabolic steroids. The reference point for the index is testosterone, which is assigned a therapeutic index of 1. Anabolic steroids would generally have a therapeutic index of greater than 1 since they tend to magnify the anabolic functions and reduce the androgenic functions.
Anabolic properties that are advantageous to an athlete are likely to extend beyond the effects of nitrogen retention and weight gain. Other typical anabolic properties range from increasing bone mineral content, counteracting the effect of corticosteroids to break down tissue, behavior related to motivation and extraversion, or simply increasing appetite. Anadrol may affect each of these points differently.
According to various athlete surveys, Anadrol is one of the most popular of the 17-alkylated anabolic steroids and this includes its use in Olympic contestants testing positive for steroids. Most athletes set their doses based on what seems to work for ther friends since there is no established dose for strength or weight gain for any anabolic steroid. Anadrol is used at very high doses, typically 150 mg/day in conjunction with other anabolic steroids. Anadrol's chemical formula is C21H32O3.
